Ludicrous Speed! Go! - A Short Film Compilation by Exophrine

One of the coolest guys I ever met here on the Net has to be Dave from Exophrine. Exophrine was a very cool blog that featured all types of pop culture stuff. Dave has phased out the blog (meh) but continues at one of his specialties: Making compilation videos!!! He has done some cool ones in the past, but his latest 'Ludicrous Speed! Go!' is by far his best. He takes clips of excessive uses of speed, both with the help of vehicles and also maybe some superhuman powers, and mashes them up into one fun clip. All the usual suspects are here, and even some cool rare movie clips you probably haven't seen in forever. Also, I think using the Spaceballs scene is a great idea... it is one of my favorites ever! You can see tons of original content over on his Youtube page, but you can catch Ludicrous Speed! Go! embedded after the jump...

James Bond Says It Best...

My buddy Dave over at Exophrine is very talented at making original content videos for his website. He is also a bit of a James Bond freak like I am. So he decided to go through all of the Bond flicks and catch 007 uttering the film titles in the movies themselves. There are 5 instances where Bond does NOT say the title of the film, so obviously that couldn't be helped. But Dave sure does get the rest of it and makes one hell of a video. Enjoy it after the jump...

Comic Hero Romances: A Video by Exophrine

Another month, another cool ass video from my boy Dave and the Exophrine team. In the past they have taken on cars, guns, and all sorts of other topics, but this month Exophrine is taking a look at some of the greatest romances to ever grace the comic book movie screen. To be honest, romance in comic book movies is just as important as villians and plot points... the significant other (and rescuing of that other) has long been a returning trope, so it's great that Dave chose to focus on that. Enjoy the video after the jump, and go over to Exophrine and show the guys some love. Tell em CCD sent ya....

Exophrine Explains The Ending Of Titanic... Properly!!!

With the re-release of Titanic in 3-D and the 100th anniversary of the actual ship sinking occurring rather recently, this seems like as good as time as any to talk about the controversy surrounding the ending of Cameron's hit movie. Could Rose have allowed Jack some space on that floating door and maybe save the love of her life? Or was it inedible that Jack had to die in order for Rose to live? David from Exophrine.com compiled an excellent info-graphic breaking the whole scene down, and it may shed some light on the whole subject. Catch the full info-graphic after the jump...

Exophrine Presents: Lock & Load

My boy Dave over at Exophrine (you guys gotta check out his blog, it's dope) has a knack for editing  some kick ass videos. His videos have been know to blow minds and cause heart palpitations in viewers due to their awesomeness.... lol. Seriously speaking, Dave has compiled a killer video which features clips from some of our favorite action movies and highlights the firepower used by the heroes and villains throughout. This is a great highlight video for gun enthusiasts, so make sure you give it a whirl after the jump....

Exoprine Presents: Car Cushion

You ever wonder why every time someone gets thrown out of a window in a movie or on TV there always seems to be a car strategically placed to catch them... albeit, not always gently!!! The gang over at Exophrine wondered the same thing, so they came up with a serious video chronicling the history of the car fall. This one will bring back memories, that's for sure. Can you name all the clips used? try to do it in the comment section below.

This Casey Jones/TMNT Fan Film Is Spectacular!!!

My boy Dave over at Exophrine posted a trailer to a fan made short film based on Casey Jones & the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and I was completely blown away by how good it looks. The action is crisp, the costumes look great... this is exactly what a fan film should be!!! Click after the jump for the trailer...

Exophrine Presents "Can't Smile Without You" Redux

Good friend of CCD and fellow awesome blogger Dave from Exophrine sent me a link to a really cool video that he put together featuring Barry Manilow's hit song "Can't Smile Without You" mashed up with scenes from Hellboy II, the movie that featured the song so effectively. It is extremely well done and I think you will like it. (The embedded video is after the jump).

Mortal Kombat: Legacy - Episode 9 - Cyrax & Sektor

The end is finally here!!! After a one month wait, the final episode of Mortal Kombat: Legacy was released at this years Comic Con. It features Cyrax & Sektor, two characters I used to love playing as back in the day. This is by far the best of the bunch and you can see why they saved it for last. Here is my thing: If you want to premiere the video at Comic Con, that's cool. Just make sure that you time your release so week 9 hits during Comic Con. Don't release the first 8 early/weekly and then make us suffer for a month. Thanks as always to Exophrine for the tip.

My Man Johnny Comes Through Once Again!!!

One of the cooler aspects of running this blog is that you begin to develop relationships with others who have similar interests as you. This is especially true of my fellow bloggers. My boy Cal at the Cave of Cool, Dave over at Exophrine, and Jeremy over at Popped Culture have made me feel great about the work I am doing here at CCD and motivate me through running their own awesome blogs as well (please check these guys out... you will love them!). But my closest friendship that I have developed so far has to be my boy Johnny Boots from the horror blog Freddy In Space. My boy is one of the most knowledgeable horror enthusiasts out there on the web, and I always get a kick out of reading his site.

God I love getting packages!!!!

Johnny and I began exchanging packages and memorabilia last year, and we often blow each others minds with the contents of packages that we send each other. I scored major points with Johnny by getting him a personalized autographed poster by scream queen Danielle Harris, and I also wowed him with a variant Freddy Kreuger toy that was in upside down packaging. He amazed me by providing me an etching of a Clint Howard/Ice Cream Man carving that was made for him. Yeah... we are both geeks! Anyway, I got another package from my boy this week and he has outdone himself yet again!

This package came with two items, one better then the next. The first was a box of 'Cereal Killer' cereal by Wax Eye. The particular brand was a play on the yellow boxes of Corn Pops/Honey Combs, entitled 'Eye Pops/Honey Chrome'. Very cool product... click the above link to see all the different boxes Wax Eye has to offer. The next thing was even cooler. It was a handmade voodoo-type doll in the form of zombie master George A. Romero!!! Artist Bob Dix created these dolls from scratch, hand painting each so that they are all unique in some way. Johnny sells these and many other cooky items in his Freddy in Space Online Store, but I got mine for nothing!!! Thanks Johnny. I got a package heading your way soon!!!!

CCD Has Won The Versatile Blogger Award!!!

This one comes courtesy of my fellow blogger MD Jackson over at Skylarking (click here to see his artwork, dude is a beast!) He awarded this to us last week, but thanks to all the shenanigans with the Blogger network I was just able to retrieve it. Thanks MD!!!

Now, there are some stipulations to receiving this award. First of all, I have to give 7 random facts about myself. So lets get that out of the way:
  1. I am a sneaker fanatic that has well over 150 pairs of kicks. I prefer the Nike/Jordan brands of sneakers, but have many pairs of Adidas, Pumas, New Balances, and Reeboks as well. I even have an original pair of British Knights and a customized pair of Air Force 1's with Burberry Leather on them. I also created my own pair of Air Max 97's at the Official Nike Factory and chose a 'Lost' motif for the pair. They are 1 of 1 and will never be duplicated!
  2. I have a deep rooted hatred for Michelle Pfieffer that I can not explain. I have hated her forever, and I just do not know why. I think she is ugly and a terrible actress, and always have. I know this is contrary to the popular opinion out there, but it is the way it is. I HATE YOU MICHELLE PFEIFFER!!!!!
  3. I am a big fan of the prequel Star Wars movies... but I am not a Lucas apologists. I have a simple theory. If you have six of anything and compare them to each other, something has to be at the bottom. For me this is The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. Sure, they are not as cool as Empire and Return of the Jedi... but ask yourself: What movies are as cool as those two flicks? I also feel that alot of the hatred of the prequels come from older fans who forgot that they fell in love with this franchise as a child. I was under 5 the first time I saw Star Wars, and have been enamored ever since. My son is 8 and absolutely adores all three prequel movies (even though Empire is his fave... I am a great dad!). They are made for his generation and a real fan would be able to look past the fact that Lucas was not catering to 25-35 year olds and made some fun movies that kids might enjoy. There... I'm done!
  4. While Batman is by far my favorite superhero, I have a real soft spot for second tier characters Shazam!, Thor and Green Lantern. I also always loved Martian Manhunter and Daredevil. Not sure what it is about those guys, but they always interested me. I am very happy with the Thor movie, and eager to see how Green Lantern pans out. But we need a Big Red Cheese movie ASAP, no???? Get that done DC!
  5. I drink a full pot of coffee every morning, usually half at my house and half in a travel mug that I take out with me. When I had my own classroom as a teacher I had a coffee pot in the room and made at least 3 pots a day. Lets just say I like coffee... alot!
  6.  My favorite actor is Peter Sellers and my favorite movie is The Pink Panther Strikes Again. I have seen tens of thousands of movies and this guy still is the best actor I have ever seen. I came to the series through my pops when I was a little kid, and I thank him for introducing me to such a talented actor so young. It started my love of cinema and I searched out all of Sellers works, which would lead me to my favorite director of all time, Stanley Kubrick. I am proud to say my son is also a big fan of Sellers, and I can not wait to share some of Kubricks films with him when he gets a bit older!
  7. The highlight of my blogging career has been my favorite comic writer Neil Gaiman tweeting a link to my page for a post I did featuring some fan art of his 'Endless' characters. My hits spiked that day, but I was just enamored by the fact that Neil was on MY BLOG!!! I met him when I was like 12 or 13 and he signed a book for me, and I have been a die hard of his work ever since. Coolest blogger story ever!
There you go. Now the next part. I have to nominate 5 blogs for this award, so here they are. check these guys out.... their blogs rock!
  1. Freddy In Space - Johnny's horror blog is filled with original material and great opinions on the often glazed over genre of Horror. I am always surprised at what Johnny has to offer.
  2. Cal's Canadian Cave of Cool - My man Cal is north of the tundra and runs one of my all time favorite blogs! He inspired me to start CCD, and he is a great friend as well as an ecceletic blogger. You will enjoy his site.
  3. Exophrine - A great tech and geek blog that always knocks it out of the park. Always informative and interesting posts.
  4. Popped Culture - My boy Jeremy runs an awesome pop culture site that features interesting fan art from around the web on all your favorite nerd properties. He finds the best stuff out there and always blows my mind with his posts!
  5. The Brave & The Bold... The Lost Issues - This blog started out as a homage to the classic Batman team up comic, where artist Ross would insert supporting characters via MS Paint into existing Brave and the Bold issues. Last year he switched it to a Marvel Two in One blog, featuring The Thing as the reoccurring member of the tag team. He always comes up with great ideas and brings a smile to my face!
There you go. Thanks again MD for the award!

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Pt 6 - Raiden

Here is the newest installment of the excellent web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy. This week we get a peak at one of my favorite MK characters, Raiden. I can't wait...

Wow... that was great. That alley scene at the end remind me alot of 'Big Trouble In Little China', no? Thanks to fellow blogger Exophrine over at his awesome blog. Make sure you guys read his blog, its bad ass!!!

So what did you guys think? Tell us in the comment section below.

If you don't know all 150 of these lines, then you are not a hardcore movie geek... and you quite possibly have been living under a boulder (a rock ain't big enough to live under if you don't know these classics!). I hope you enjoy this video. Exophrine really killed this one... good job guys.
