On this episode of the Jacked Kirby Podcast hosts Tommy Lombardozzi and Mike D are joined by artist Al Accettura for one reason... Let's Talk Some Asgard! Thor: Ragnarok is on the horizon, so we figured this would be a perfect time to discuss Jack's back up feature Tales of Asgard that appeared in issues of Journey Into Mystery that featured Thor. It was in these short 8 page back up stories that Kirby wrote & drew where he really developed the world of Asgard that we all know and love. The most important of those back up stories were collected into Tales of Asgard #1, an oversized comic featuring 9 stories that was published in October of 1968. The boys talk through those blockbuster stories that laid the world building of the Thor mythos for decades to come!!!!

The CCD Podcast: Episode #82 - The Star Wars Art Show

CCD.NYC has been sponsoring live art shows around Brooklyn for the past year, and one of the places we got the inspiration to do those shows was from our good friend Joseph Milazzo. Milazzo is a talented musician and artist himself, and he has been putting together shows for years now. We liked his format of rotating artists in for each so and having a theme... so we kinda stole it and added the pop culture twist! So when Joe told us that his next show was going to be focusing on a Pop Culture phenomenon such as Star Wars we had to have him on the podcast to tell us all about it! The 15 pieces from the show will be on display on Saturday Dec 12th at 3 Jolly Pigeons bar in Bay Ridge (click here for details) all night, but listen to Jedi Rob chop it up with Joe and one of the other artists in the show Al Accettura as a bit of a sneak preview!!!

Another Excellent CCD Art & Supply Art Show In The Books... Here Are The Pieces!

On Saturday February 7th The CCD Art & Supply Co. put on our 2nd live art show at the Irish Haven in Brooklyn, and boy it was something special. The St. Valentine's Day Massacre: Mob Movies... In Blood Red was a perfect show theme to fit with this time of year. All that lovey dovey nonsense isn't our style here at CCD... we decided to pay homage to our favorite Mob movies in honor of the monstrous gangland slaying ordered by Al Capone. We picked out 16 artists, and the 16 classic mob movies. We put them in a randomizer... and after the assignments were given the rest was history. We got 16 killer (pun intended) pieces, and the night of the show we were fortunate enough to sell 14 out of 16 pieces. 14 OUT OF 16!!! That is just too dope... to dope indeed! It was a big night for The CCD Art & Supply Co. and we have made some insane connections with the hope of putting on even more killer events in the future. CCD Had It's First Art Show... And It Was A Perfect Way To Kick Off All Horror Week For 2014!!!

Wow... it came fast, and it went just as quick!!! CCD planned it's first ever art show... and boy was it a doozy! Monsters, Maniacs and Mayhem: A Black & White Tribute To The Golden Age of Universal Horror Films saw us pick 15 of the greatest Universal Horror movies of the 30s, 40s, and 50s and ask some of our most artistic friends to do their best rendition of the characters. The result? 14 amazing pieces (one artist, who shall remain nameless CHRIS, did not get his piece done in time) that came out insanely good!!! All the classics are represented, as well as some lesser known characters. We worked with some close friends of the CCD family (Tommy Lombardozzi, Lockheed Lee, and Joey Esq) as well as some new ones (Liza Biggers, Erle Tompkins, and Al Accettura)... but there was one thing that all the artists had in common: All the pieces were AMAZING!!!! We even got a show poster courtesy of Sean 'Create Ink' Hamilton, of the legendary League of Geekz podcast! Best part of the whole night was that 9 out of the 14 original pieces sold!!! An overall successful night, the first of many to come from this new group of artists down with the CCD Fam. Thanks to the Irish Haven, all the artists involved, and all that helped out with this great event. We will have many more art shows to come in the future.
