The CCD Podcast: Episode #16 - In Defense Of... Vol #1 or 'Optmus Prime, A Living Painting and an Ewok Walk Into A Bar'

So for Episode #16 of the CCD podcast we decided to start a little feature called 'In Defense Of...' in which each panel member basically gets a chance to defend something that they hold dear but, is widely panned by others. You know, that really unpopular opinion you have about a director... or maybe a movie/TV show, or even a musician or comic. Whatever they want to defend, the panel member gets their chance to defend their long lost love of a hated project... and then the other two members get to T off on them for being ridiculous. It is a lot of fun, and in this episode Joe Esq and Mike D join Jedi Rob for a trip to the nerd opinion courtroom. This should be fun... LOL. Make sure you head on over to iTunes, and do the following: Subscribe, Download, Listen, SHARE... REPEAT!!!

Follow the CCD Podcast Instagram & Facebook... it's tons of nerdy fun!!!

  1. In regards to 'Oblivion'...'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World' ....'John Carter (of Mars')......and to further the point 'Watchmen' ,'Edge of Tomorrow' and 'Sucker Punch', the films that most blog site reporters and it's followers are rallying behind and touting as the next best thing for almost a year or two before their release....these are the films they all collectively drop like a ton of bricks opening weekend and decide are some of the worst films ever.....without just cause. These were all phenomenal films. I would watch (and have already watched) these films multiple times. They get better each time, to me, in most cases. I'm convinced there's some sort of vast interweb conspiracy to get people amped up for these films and see how fast they can get us to hate them upon release or something. When I wound up seeing the aforementioned films.....I liked them EVEN more than I thought I would. How than can the collective cry be that these films are sub-par...and don't deserve sequel treatment ......or even deserve the initial price of admission? I just can't wrap my head around it. Any specific thoughts on this you three?

    1. I couldn't agree more Jeff... I love all of them, and it is funny how they are hyped up and then bogged down right away...

  2. P.S. What did you slip in Joey's drink before airtime? He's been implying for weeks that we don't express enough disdain for mediocrity in cinema these days...but, once he got in the hot seat he seemed pretty much agreeable to all. He even came out of the gate promising me how he was going to be dishing out the 'hate instead...he was dishing out undeserved free passes left and right! Even Michael Bay (kudos to Mike D for the attempt at ruffling feathers...you surely would have ruffled mine if I on deck) wasn't enough to draw blood on this episode. What a 3-way bromance this was. ;)

Some thoughts off the top of mead for next time....
'Leonard Part 6', The collective works of M. Night Shyamalan, 'Ishtar', Kim Kardashian, 'Waterworld', Spike Lee. 'The Twilight Saga', 'Calvin's Canadian Cave of Cool', 'The Snorks', 'Plan 9 From Outer Space', Simon Cowell, Eddie Murphy films from 1995 on, 'Showgirls', Woody Allen post stepdaughter marriage, Saved By the Bell the College Years', Battlefield Earth, 'From Justin To Kelly'...

    3. ...just sayin'.

You showed some balls defending Michael Bay. I'm hoping Ghostbusters II and RotJ have at least TWICE as many fans as they do detractors. I shudder to think that time has made these 2 film gems such that require a great defense team.
