So 'Dark Shadows' Is Gonna Take The Campy Route... Wait, What????

Wow... I don't exactly know what just happened. I just watched the 2.5 minute trailer that was just released for Tim Burton's upcoming film Dark Shadows and I don't really exactly know how I feel. This is completely NOT what I expected... but I am not that upset by it. As a fan of the original show (I have watched over 300 episodes of the original show on Netflix) I was eager to see what someone as talented as Tim Burton would do with a stellar cast and a cult classic property. I saw all the stills of Johnny Depp as Barnabas, looking very reminiscent of the old Barnabas Collins. I saw the amazing cast consisting of people like Michelle Pfiefer, Jackie Earle Haley, Chloe Moretz, Eva Green, Helena Bohnam Carter, and many more... and it looked fantastic. Very dark and brooding, true to the gritty feel of the show. Then you see the video for the trailer, and you get something right out of left field. Click after the jump to see the trailer and then hear my reactions...

Yup... I am shocked. An upbeat Barry White song? Sarcasm and car/tv/technological jokes? Flying sex scenes between a witch and a vampire? Yup, none of this I planned on seeing. It looks like the new version of the Brady Bunch they put out a few years back... true to the campiness of the show, but set in more modern times and kind of sarcastic when dealing with the fish out of water story. But I am not sacred off by it... if anything I might have to say that I am even MORE intrigued by this film. What do you guys think? Tell us in the comment section below... The film comes out May 11th, so stay tuned!
