The robot has been becoming more and more prevalent in pop culture. Yup, everything has its way around. Vampires were hot about 5 years ago, then zombies. It is the robots time to shine. Pacific Rim, Transformers 4, Almost Human... yeah, its time for the robot overkill. Enter artist Keanu 432, who decided to re-imagine some of the classic Marvel characters as if they were robots. You certainly get the feel that this is how they would look if they were robot like beings. These are quite good, and he has other cool stuff over at his Imgur page. Hey folks! It's been a bit since I've shared anything here on C.C.D. I just haven't been as prolific, art-wise, as I once was. But, I'm back with a little step-by-step. Some folks are interested in the creative process. I did one of these once before with a Venom piece I created, and people seemed to dig it. Big Mike D. asked if I'd share a recent piece of mine, with a little breakdown of the process, so, here' goes.
Artist Alberto Muriel is now the regular artist over at Propeller, and boy can the guy bring the funk. In order to celebrate his ascension to his new position, he has released four very cool photos of restructure key scenes from Alfred Hitchcock films to feature Comic Book Characters in the key roles. My favorite is the Green Lantern/Sinestro infused North by Northwest. You can check out all four after the jump... they are fantastic....
There are tons of great shows, both live and animated, coming this fall. One of the ones that I am looking forward to is the new Avengers cartoon that will be on Disney XD. It will feature Iron Man, Captain America, Wasp, Ant Man, Hulk and Thor. The cartoon will pull its stories primarily from the classic Stan Lee/ Jack Kirby stories and will feature a ton of villians and other super heroes. Check out the trailer for the show below:
Aside from the great looking animation, here are three reasons why I am psyched to see this cartoon.
Ant Man (Hank Pym) seems to be able to combine his Ant Man powers (shrinking) and Giant Man powers (growing) in one character. This makes a lot of sense to me, since he has had both powers in the past. As far as I recall, Pym only had one of these powers working at a time back in the comics (I could be wrong though... am I?) and I never understood why. In this trailer we see him minaturized running through blades of grass and big enough to pick up a supertanker. Dope... just dope.
Loki. Thats it for me. Loki is one of my all time favorite villians. He is awesome, plus his helmet is fucking great. I do not know if he has ever gored somebody with his tusk helmet in the comics, but if it hasn't then Quesada and the crew need to make that happen. He looks to be a re-occuring character on this show, and rumors that he will also be the main villian in The Avengers live action movie make me h-h-h-h-happy (Simple Jack voice).
Iron Man being deignated the leader. Thats gonna piss Cap off a bit, no? Judging from all the bad blood between the two of them since the Civil War drama a few years back, and the constant struggle between them throughout the years to be the top cheese, I think this will be a big part of the show. It's interesting to me, and I can not wait to see how it plays out.
So there you go. The new show will be premiering on Disney XD sometime in late September or early October. Can not wait for this one. Tell me what you think in the comment section below.
Here is the first "Official" picture of Anthony Hopkins as Odin and Tom Hiddleson as Loki... also this is the first photo with Chris Hemsworth as Thor holding his hammer, Mjolinir. I am super excited for this movie for many reasons, but let me list my top 3. 1) Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman and the rest of the cast. They really seemed to have got this right on this movie. 2) The armor on the gods from all the pictures that have come from the set look awesome. On a movie like Thor, costumes are going to be REALLY IMPORTANT. To cheesy, and it will suck. These look great!!! 3) Kenneth Branagh, director. I really like Kenneth Branagh as an actor, but I like him even more directing this movie. This story needs to be epic... a cross between Shakespeare and T2: Judgement Day. I think Branagh has enough classical acting training to pull this off. I am really excited for all the material that is sure to be released at San Diego Comic Con next week.
