The Tribute Performances Steal The Show At The 2013 Grammys

I am usually quite bored with the whole Award show experience, whether it be the Academy Awards, the Grammys, The Spike Video Game Awards, or whatever else cockamamie show they come up with next. But on the recommendation of my lovely wife to be Tara (whatup boo!) I have been checking out some of the performances from the 2013 Grammys the other night and I am truly impressed. It seems like the first time in a while musicians actually were concerned with their live performances. i don't know if this has to do with the recent Beyonce lip syncing fiasco or what, but I don't care... lets just keep the performances coming. I especially love the large ensemble tribute performances. First we got a cool tribute to reggae legend Bob Marley from Bruno Mars, Sting and Rhianna as well as two of Marley's own sons, Damian & Ziggy. It was a great rendition of Could You Be Love. Love this performance in recognition of one of the musical greats. The second tribute was fantastic as well, paying tribute to Levon Helm of The Band. Elton John was joined on stage by Mavis Staples, T Bone Burnett, Zac Brown, Mumford & Sons, and Brittany Howard of the Alabama Shakes. For those of you nimrods out there who say there is no good music being made anymore, maybe you should check into Mumford, Zac Brown, and the Alabama Shakes. They are all fantastic, as was this rendition of 'The Weight'. Great tributes for two legends. I am back on the award show band wagon... for now. Enjoy the performances after the jump....

The 1st Annual "C-C-Drammy" Awards Result Show

So, last nights Grammy Awards were a wonderful suprise. The performances were amazing, the speeches of the winners were heartfelt and the Academy of Music seemed to really get it right this year. As for my C-C-Drammy predictions, I did pretty well. In the 4 major categories, I guessed 2 winners. I was correct in picking Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody" as the Record of the Year. I also guessed Beyonce's "Single Ladies" would take down the Single of the Year. In the Album of the Year category, I thought Lady Gaga was impossible to beat... but youngster Taylor Swift was not to be taken lightly. She cruised to a victory in that category, suprising many people with winning the biggest category of the night. I was also incorrect about Keri Hilson winning Best New Artist, as she lost in that category to the Zack Brown Band (Who the F$#K is That). Overall, CCD did pretty well in the major categories and were happy with the way everything shook out.

The performances were great, starting with Lady Gaga and Elton John and finishing with Drake, Lil Wayne, and Eminem ft. Travis Barker. These two performances were awesome and made watching the show worth the 3 1/2 hours it encompassed. Mary J Blige and Andrea Boccelli killed it, as did Beyonce. The tribute to Michael Jackson was nice, and The Black Eyed Peas also repped hard. I would have liked to see Jay-Z up there, but there is always next year. Today is the 52nd annual Grammy Awards, which is the biggest awards show for the music industry. Every year we are blown away by the performers and caught up in the battle that the 5 contestants go through. The all star presenters come from all walks of the entertainment industry, and tonight will be no exception. Everyone seems to be buzzing about the rumor that Elton John will join the nutjob Lady GaGa onstage for her live performance.
