Miami Connection Gets G.I. Joe Styled Action Figures... Just Another Reason I love This Film's Existence

I have been singing the praises of Miami Connection for months now, ever since Alamo Drafthouse announced they would be putting out the 1987 Kung Fu Rock Opera by releasing a killer extended trailer. Now the gang over at Alamo is showing just how hip and cool they are, by completing a set of G.I. Joe styled action figures for some of the heroes and the villains of the movies. I don't know if this movie can possibley live up to all the hype it has set for itself, but soon you will be able to see it in a city near you! The Edgar Wright Triple Play At The Alamo Drafthouse Is Another Reason I Am Considering Moving To Texas...

God, the gang at the Alamo Drafthouse sure know how to put some interesting programming. This weekend they are hosting a triple play screening of Edgar Wright's three seminal movies: Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Scott Pilgrim. Wow... just wow. How is there no Drafthouse here in NYC yet? what are you guys waiting on? WTF!!!! Anyway, Mondo commissioned Kevin Tong to create a triple bill poster to be sold at the event, similar to the ones created by DKNG Studios & CCD fave Alex Pardee last year for the L.A. triple bills that were shown. Pretty awesome stuff, all the way around. After the jump you can see Tong's unreal take on the three films, as well as the two older posters just cause they are fucking awesome...

Today, Alamo Drafthouse Goes Ape...

Alamo Drafthouse & Mondo always bring it when they collaborate with artists to construct a new poster project.Whether the subject is old school (like the killer Gremlins posters) or new school (their Once Upon A TIme series), the artists always hit a home run for the best team in the game. Last night I got an email featuring the newest series to come out of the Texas based powerhouse, and the subject is a classic: Planet of the Apes!!!! Check out FIVE different posters that are part of the set. All  five will be available as a set tomorrow (Thursday 1/26) and individually on Friday (1/27)... but the time is not released as of yet. Can Mondo Get Any Cooler??? Yup, They Can!!!

I have always been a fan of the Mondo crew, the guys who create posters in conjunction with the Alamo Drafthouse. They always seem to make rediculously awesome posters and work with some of the greatest artists in the game. That said, last year they worked with artist Aaron Horkey on a print for the new re-make of True Grit. That poster was amazing... but even though it was great, the gang at Mondo have taken it one step further. They decided to do a laser engraved wood carving using the Horkey poster as a blue print.
