Mike D's 2013 NY Comic Con Purchases - Comics Edition

So this years 2013 NY Comic Con is in the books and once again I got some killer deals on books that I have been dying to add to my collection. The vendors were full of killer deals, and I definitely have a problem saying no. After all the stuff I did buy, there is one thing that did evade my grasp. A mint condition copy of Hulk #271 (the first full length appearance of Rocket Raccoon) was on sale at Joe Koch's table for a mere 40 bucks (last year they were fetching 125-200 bucks after the Guardians of the Galaxy movie was announced)... and I passed up on it. I went back the next day and someone had snatched it up... Damn!!!! I did get some really great snags, both old and new... check out my haul after the jump...

First up, I grabbed about 10-15 back issues of Claremont's run on the X-Men. This has been a pet project of mine for some time, and I am trying to complete his whole 19 year run. I am about 55% there... not bad. I also grabbed a few more of Claremont's signatures for my collection... most notably I got three copies of issue #275 (the new team uniforms, close to the end of Claremont's run) signed for my nephew and son, as well as me. A pretty good haul...

Every now and then I see something that peaks my interest, especially if the price is good. I grabbed up this hardcover edition of a prequel comic to Die Hard for a mere $4 bucks. That is great for a hardcover, especially for a story featuring a young John McClane! I also grabbed a copy for my buddy Tommy...

I have long wanted to get some copies of the original TMNT comic books written by Eastman & Laird, and since original black and white copies of the series are off the charts I knew I would eventually grab a re-printed graphic novel edition of the stories. I was digging through a box of old ass  graphics when I came across these ORIGIANL First Comics graphic novel reprints of the TMNT series. They were color reproductions and first published in 1989. I got three of the four volumes off of the vendor, and the best part was that he charged me 25% off of the cover price... which was only 10 bucks since the book came out in 1989!!! 7.50 each for these.... yup, score!!!!

I also grabbed a few Marvel Hardcovers for 5 bucks, X-Men vs The Fantastic Four and Rocket Raccoon. The Rocket Raccoon reprints some early appearances of his as well as the 4 issue mini series by Mike Mignola. I can't wait to dive into these...

I went a bit DC Comics crazy, and I am very happy about what I grabbed! I got an old Deadman mini series, Tales of the Batman by Tim Sale, Batman: Through the Looking Glass featuring the art of Sam (The Maxx) Keith, and Tales of the New Gods featuring the creations of Jack Kirby! Another good haul... with many hours of reading pleasure ahead.

But the biggest thing I was able to snatch up is definitely the best purchase I may have ever made... I picked up all 10 issues of the original V for Vendetta series for a mere 30 bucks... and then promptly brought them downstairs to be signed by David Lloyd himself!!! Lloyd was very gracious, and signed all ten. Now I own my favorite comic series of all time signed by the original artist! Now only if that nutbag Alan Moore would make a convention appearance...

All in al, a good show... great deals, and great purchases for my collection. Can't wait to start reading!!!!!
