I Don't Know What To Make Of 'The Devil's Carnival', But It Looks Just Crazy Enough To Get My Vote

I am personally a huge fan of Darren Lynn Bousman. I don't know what exactly it is that makes me love him, yet I am always eager to see what he is doing next. He turned the Saw franchise into a run away success after take it over in installments II-IV, and then he took a hard left turn a came out with Repo! The Genetic Opera... and that is usually where the debate starts. Some people (like myself) love the experimental style of Repo, while others are confused by the crazy plot/musical numbers and hate the film. Either way, Bousman shows he likes to take chances. He also re-made a classic Troma flick (Mother's Day) that has yet to be released despite garnering positive reviews & had a minor box office hit early this year with 11-11-11 (insane flick). He is right on the cusp of breaking through... and it looks like his next project is NOT going to help him do that! Click after the jump to hear more about 'The Devil's Carnival'...

The Devil's Carnival looks to be traveling down the same route as Repo, and it seems like musical numbers will play a large part in the film. I like the look of this teaser trailer, and it portrays this circus as a dark & dingy place that I can't wait to see. It reminds me of the environment that is portrayed in The Last Circus (another batshit insane flick), and I loved that film as well. Not to mention the cast that Bousman has put together for TDC... Alexa Vega, Paul Sorvino, Bill Mosely, Sean Patrick Flannery, and Slipknot's own Shawn Crahan are surely impressive for such a cool art house movie, so I think this one will be great. Will it get Bousman the recognition he deserves? Probably not... but when your fans love what you do, I hope that is enough to keep Bousman going!!! Check out the trailer:
