The Faces Of A Thief, 2 Thugs, An Assassin and A Maniac... What Do You Get? Sean Hamilton's 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Face Mash-Up !!!

My buddy Sean Hamilton is back at it again, this time taking on the hit characters of the 'Guardians of the Galaxy'. In his latest 'face mash-up' piece he takes on the new Fab 5 and uses their distinct facial features to meld them into one cohesive facial pattern. You get the crown of Groot's tree head, the flowing purple ponytail against the green skin of Gamora, the red tattoos of Drax, the furry brow of Rocket, and the mask and 80's headphones of the man called Star Lord... all in one piece! Pretty great. Sean is a very talented dude and has been knocking out amazing art pieces over on his webpage but, he is also finding time to be in the podcasting game with the guys over at the League of Geekz. They have some interesting takes on everything from pop culture, and Sean gets to chat with his fellow podders about toys, movies, comics, TV and much more. Where does this guy find the time? Sean Hamilton Unleashes 'The Uncanny', His Latest Artistic Creation...

I have featured the work of my man Sean Hamilton here on CCD a few times before. My man is super talented, and Tommy Lombardozzi and I have met Sean on numerous occasions at Cons... and the truth of the matter is that he is just a genuine, down ass dude. A kindred spirit due to our geeky natures and sneakerhead ways, Sean and I still regularly keep in touch via the Intrawebs. He is always churning out awesome art, but his latest piece really blew me away and I needed to share it ASAP. Titled "The Uncanny", Sean pays tribute to his love for his favorite X-Men of the 80's and 90's with this mash-up piece. But unlike other mash-ups, he literally takes specific characteristics of each X-Man and uses them to create one face. The results are AMAZING... oh wait, that's Spidey's shtick. CCD Interviews: Artist Sean Hamilton At His Booth In Artist Alley at the 2013 NY Comic Con

My man Sean Hamilton and I go way back... last year at the NY Comic Con to be exact! We met Sean last year in Artist Alley and have seen him at a few other cons, and considering we have so much in common we always chop it up a bit when we see each other. See, Sean is a comic & pop culture nerd... but he is also a sneaker head. These are two of my favorite things as well, and so we have similar sensibilities in terms of the things we personally like. This tends to skew me towards the work he does, which pairs a popular pop culture character (Superman, Spidey, Michonne, etc) with a fresh pair of kicks. Some are obvious, like Catwoman paired with the Tiffany Dunks, or Hulk paired with the Hulk Dunks. Some are based on color ways, like Superman in the Fire Red 4s or Batman in the Thunder 4s. And some are just conceptual, such as Teen Wolf dunking a basketball in the Nike Air Mags (aka Marty McFly's from Back to the Future fame). Truly great and creative stuff... and I love seeing what he comes up with next. The best part is that Sean usually does very limited runs of each print... and once he sells out, they are gone forever! I copped his Batman piece and he threw in the Superman for free (thanks brother!). CCD Meets Sean Hamilton,... Live In Artist Alley @ The 2012 NY Comic Con

So in my travels down the aisles of the 2012 NY Comic Con I saw lots of very unique art. But few were able to execute a high concept like my man Sean Hamilton. Sean is an artist that mashes up classic pop culture characters with some of the dopest sneakers on the planet earth... and sometimes even out of this world (see the R2-D2 x Galaxy Foamposite mashup!). Lots of guys do Mario art, but who puts Mario into a pair of Air Jordan 11's to kick some Koopa Troopa ass? Leave that to my man Sean. Sean is a sneaker head like myself, with over three hundred pairs in his personal collection, and he is including all of the best Nike & the like has to offer with some of the most recognizable characters in your life. Michonne from Walking Dead checks in with some Air Jordan 1's on. Walter White gets the Wu Tang Wallabee Clarke treatment. Storm bust out some fresh Yeezy 2s. The possibilities never really end...
