K day baby... time to knock out another post for the A to Z Blogger Challenge 2013 edition. I chose today's film, Knocked Up, for a few different reasons. 1) I love this movie, and it stands out to me as one of the funniest movies of the last few years. Seth Rogen & Jonah Hill have become this generations Adam Sandler & Will Ferrell. Comedy usually goes through these power shifts about every 8-10 years, and Sandler & Farrell had a great run from 1995-2005... but since then, it has been all Roge, Hill and their crew of young up and comers. 2) I am a sucker for the romantic comedy, but especially when it is done this well. There are no cheap laughs or throw away cliches here. All really funny, well executed comic bits. 3) The movie is my fiance Tara's favorite comedy, and she had oral surgery yesterday and is sitting next to me on the couch as I write this home from work. That means at some point I will probably be watching this movie today, and I couldn't be happier. For the sake of the challenge, our pics will focus on the female lead of the movie: Katherine Heigl. People might not think Heigl has a ton of depth as an actress (I loved her on Grey's Anatomy, but her poor film choices in the romantic comedy genre are killing her), but she kills in this film.
