Happy Birthday Jeffy!!!!

Today is a great day... I get to celebrate a birthday with one of my best buds! Those of you guys who read CCD know of Jeff Bond, one of the behind the scenes guys here at the website. He has been involved with CCD since the early days, when he started posting his awesome Lost recap blogs during Season 6. He then continued with his 'I'd Buy That As A T' T-shirt posts & his 'Like, Like?' art features. But what most people don't know is that Jeff works tirelessly behind the scenes, editing and helping to keep the website looking good as well as always being their whenever we have any extra curricular activities like our tireless coverage of NYC Comic Con. My man has been by my side since the beginning, so its only fitting that as we stand on the cusp of expanding the site that he is right there with me. Happy bday brother man... enjoy this picture of Rebo from the Cantina Band as a cake on your nerdy bday!!!! Party up kid....

Happy 4th of July!!!!

Today is the 4th of July, the birthday of this great country we live in named the U.S. of A. In honor of this great land that I call home, enjoy this patriotic ditty from Toby Keith entitled 'Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue'. Enjoy the hot dogs, hamburgers & brewkies and try not to party to hard... and thanks to all of those who have served and continue to serve in our military and allow a humble geek like myself to continue to live the life I love so much. Enjoy!!!!!

Happy B-Day Jeff Bond!!!

The CCD fam has grown and shrank over the two years we have been in existence. Some contributors started off hot & heavy and have faded into the background, and some contributors only drop a post off every once and again. But there is one constant here at CCD besides me, and that is my boy Jeffrey Bond. This guy started as the 1st additional contributor to CCD with his Lost recap blogs, and after getting involved he wanted to help out more & more. He has been by my side for celebrations, milestones, and is always around during NY Comic Con when we are using those always handy press passes. Jeff helps keep the site in order, helps with the daily upkeep & maintenance, he scouts out & sends me a lot of the material that turns into posts, and even throws up a couple of posts himself now and again (more often again lately... lets go kid, get in it!!!). So on this day I wish my main man Jeff a Happy Birthday and look forward to many more years of friendship & partnership here at CCD. Happy Birthday To Me!!!

Today is my birthday, and I'll blog about it if I want too!!!! Lol... just kidding... well kinda. Whenever my birthday flows around I get a little reminiscent of my childhood and my older sister Oona, who passed away in 2002 from Cancer. My older sister loved Happy Birthday To You by Dr. Suess... it was her favorite book. It became a staple in our household, something our Dad read to her every year on her born day  Since she was older then me, it became the default birthday story we all were told. And it puts a smile on my face every time I hear it. I have continued the tradition with my own son, and no matter what I do with him on his birthday I always read that book to him on his special day. Last year I found a great clip on Youtube of a father reading the book to his daughter, and it completely broke my heart and made me happy at the same time. It was beautiful to see him sharing this story with his child, and reminded me alot of my dad speaking to me & my sister. Click after the jump to see this great video. Happy Birthday To Me!!!!!!

Happy Birthday To Me!!!!!!!!

Yup, today is my birthday. While I have much to be happy & greatful for, I can not lie about how much I miss my big sister Oona every year that passes. She has been gone for almost 9 years already... its been 9 birthdays since she recited "Happy Birthday To You" by Dr Seuss to me. It was her favorite Dr Seuss book, and my dad used to read it to us all the time when we were kids. When we got older she bought a copy of it and used to call me bright & early on my bday, and recite the whole thing. Well, I can't hear her wonderful voice anymore, but thanks to Youtube, I can get a rendition of the Dr Seuss classic by a loving dad dedicated to his daughter. Hey, its not my sister... but it will do!!! I miss you Oona... more and more each day. Thanks for always making my birthday so special. Just remember:

"Today you are you... that is truer than true. There is no one alive that is you-er than you. Shout loud I am lucky to be what I am... thank goodness I'm not just a glam or a ham, or a dusty old jar of sour gooseberry jam! I am what I am, thats a great thing to be... If I say so myself, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!"

Happy Birthday To You, Dr Suess... Thanks For All The Memories

Yesterday would have been Dr. Suess's 106 birthday. As on of the most famous children authors of all time, Suess crafted over 60 children books that have broadened childrens imagination for decades. Green Eggs and Ham, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, How The Grinch Stole Christmas and Horton Hears A Who are just some of the classics written by this genius. His most famous work would be The Cat In The Hat, an adventurous tale about two sibilings left at home who have to deal with the mischevious title character. Usng just 236 words, Suess showed that the key to child literacy is to keep the word count down to the essentials and make the books fun. It revelotionized the kids book industry and set a new benchmark as to what children books should be in the future. His works have been animated on various occasions, and there have been live movie adaptions of both The Grinch starring Jim Carrey and The Cat In The Hat starring Mike Myers. Also, a feature length version of Horton Hears A Who was recently released with a All Star voice cast lead by Steve Carell and Seth Rogen.

My 1st grade teaching girlfriend Tara swears by Dr. Suess and all his books, using them frequently throughout the school year. I also introduced my son Mikey to Dr. Suess at a very young age, and he loves all of his books. His favorite is Hop on Pop, a rhyming book. My sister Oona, who passed away in 2002, perfered Happy Birthday To You, and my dad always read it to her. My personal favorite would have to be Green Eggs and Ham. Below is an animated version of Green Eggs and Ham. I love thes older cartoon versions of his work. Thanks for all the memories Doc... I hope my son will read your books to his kids, and so on forever and ever. Happy B-Day in heaven.
