Superman & Batman: The Trust

With all the excitement over the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman I am brought back to thinking about this 'World's Finest' movie. I like this story, by Alex Ross and Chip Kidd, very much because it says everything you need to know about the relationship between Batman and Superman and why the most powerful creature on the planet would NEED a non-powered human to watch over him (albeit an extra-ordinary non-powered human) is what makes their team-up special. And Braniac would challenge the two of them. That doesn't require us to cast a new Joker or Lex Luthor. Those roles have been done to death in Batman and Superman movies.

I am a veteran of the comic book game... I have been collecting since I was four (just over 28 years) and I have tons of comics/graphic novels to prove it. I, along with many of my fellow 80's baby comic geeks, were way ahead of the current comic book movie craze and have read ALL of the source material that is making the summer blockbusters the masses are devouring at a record pace. But what if you have to buy a gift for the person who is just getting started with comics? This May Be The Best Mashup I Have Ever Seen

Alex Ross is a legendary artist in the comic industry and one of my all time personal faves. His work on 'Kingdom Come' and 'Marvel's' is some of the finest art I have ever witnessed in a comic book. But he recently released this mashup drawing featuring the cast of 30 Rock as The League Of Extraordinary Gentleman, and I am utterly speechless. I have no speech... Thank you Jeff Bond for sending this over today. Wow... I would watch a movie with Tracy Morgan as Capatin Nemo all day!!!

Alex Ross Does Godzilla For IDW... Your Welcome James West!!!

Check out this phenomenal cover art done by one of my favorite comic artists ever, Alex Ross, for the upcoming IDW Comics title Godzilla: Monster World. Wow. This looks great. The book is written by Eric Powell (of The Goon) and the art will be done by Phil Hester, with Ross supplying a special issue #1 cover as only he can! My cousin and fellow comic book geek James West is a huge Godzilla fan, and he takes extreme pride in his Marvel Comics Godzilla run of books from the 80's. The fact that they are making a new Godzilla book and it comes with this fantastic cover is sure to make his day. The title kicks off in March 2011 so make sure you hit up your mom & pop comic shops and support them when you are picking up this title. Mr. Ross, you are a god. Once again you have outdone yourself.
