Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Wanted......I agree Kal... Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Wanted... all of those comics have the villains and/or anti-heroes finishing first, and I love em for it!!! It's not all about the good guy. I just finished Infinite Crisis (I am a bit behind on my DC Universe, leave me alone!) and I loved that even though the goood guys finished first, a shit ton of Good Guys met their demise in its pages. That makes the story more real. Thanks for stopping by Kal!!!Mike D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/04034128762993882657noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8890300254470726941.post-84994870127668874882011-04-19T10:00:05.747-04:002011-04-19T10:00:05.747-04:00Did it 35 minutes ago. All...I totally agree with you analysis of this guy. All other villains in movies or comic books always leave themselves vulnerable in one aspect or another that allows the hero the opportunity he/she needs to foil the evil scheme and save the world. It's like they want to fail. Like I dog who chases after cars, they have no idea what to do when they catch one.

The moment in 'Watchmen' when he tell Rorschach and Nite Owl that all their struggles have been for nothing because he put his plan in motion a half hour ago was one of those 'Are you frickin' kidding me?' moments. All our heroes could do was to lash out against their own frustrations. THAT is how you mess with a hero's head. Brilliant.

Reminds me of that episode of Deep Space Nine where Julian Bashir is a James Bond-like character playing a scenerio in the holodeck. Through a malfunction the other members of the station are playing part. James Avory (Capt Sisko) really chews up the scenery as the world conquering villain who actually wins the day but then finds his success oddly unsatisfying.
I loved that kind of resolution. 99% of the time writers think what we want to see is the hero succeed but in actuality the opposite outcome is far more satisfying.Kalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00663751053844271849noreply@blogger.com
