Conversely in TDK, The Joker robs a bank, Batman punches some dudes, and some dogs(wam bam!) the Batmobile shows up, Batman bends a rifle, crushes a van, uses like 5 gadgets, busts a bunch of bad guys, including the fucking Scarecrow. All in the first 10 minutes. That's a Batman movie!

I hear what you're saying about Bruce as a person, I just didn't feel it. BB was also light on Batman and heavy on Bruce, but that story was interesting and engaging. Him climbing out of a hole for months wasn't doing it for me.

There were some cool things, but like KG said, not enough. And for me, there was a bunch of stuff that started to bug me early on in the film that put me in a bad space and no matter what happened later, there was no coming back.JediRobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02795767540917303808noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8890300254470726941.post-78942317008053918282012-07-24T10:58:25.376-04:002012-07-24T10:58:25.376-04:00Thanks for clearing that up. I have to say I am a bit shocked (...Wow, Kristen... I have to say I am a bit shocked (kind of like how I feel about Rob's comments above) by your feelings toward the movie. Obviously I thought Hathaway was great. I hate Michelle Pfieffer (its just a thing I have about her... don't ask, I don't really know why I hate her) so it is hard for me to compare their performances. But I thought she was good....

As far as your gripes about Batman's actual screen time, I see your point... but I also feel that this is what makes the movie transcends typical comic book movies. Your are invested in Bruce Wayne's character as a person... and that rarely happens in these types of films (I think Iron Man is an exception because everyone loves some Tony Stark). When you add up all the scenes that have Bruce and/or Batman in them, your number would increase... alot. But I do see your point about Bats actually being in suit and on screen.

I also like JGL... and I couldn't say that I wasn't sitting there the whole time saying "That is fucking Robin". I mean, it was just so fucking obvious... yet Nolan kept it really quiet till the very end, and that was pretty cool.

All in all, I am not saying that I dislike TDK or B Begins, but in my opinion this one blows doors on them. But I respect your opinion as well... laters!!!!Mike D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/04034128762993882657noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8890300254470726941.post-12285916827995929812012-07-23T23:19:22.436-04:002012-07-23T23:19:22.436-04:00Rob, I am utterly shocked at your response to this...Rob, I am utterly shocked at your response to this film. The voice the was a bit weird, but I certainly enjoyed it. He played it with a bit of a Scottish touch... a bit Connery-esque if you ask me...lol.

As far as the plan part, it was never really Bane's plan to just destroy Gotham. If that was the case he would have just set off the nuke right off the jump. His plan was to force the people of Gotham to overthrow their won city and upset the status quo... to establish a new order of things. He didn't want to murder all the cops... he wanted to break the spirit of the citizens by removing the cops from the equation. And any cops who happened to survive he was hoping to change their outlook on things, kind of like what happened with Matthew Modines character. When Gordon showed up to his crib and he was hiding inside behind his wife... that was the epitome of Bane's plan all along.

Plus he thought he had broken the bat...literally. He didn't see any possible threat to saving the cops. He definitely wasn't very worried about Jim Gordon and JGl's Robin, ya dig!

I think another real good example of this is when that business guys henchman goes in front of Scarecrow's court and asks for Bane... and Scarecrow is like "Bane has no say here" even though Bane is sitting right there watching the proceedings. That shows you he is not trying to be a boss and run the show, just start the spark that leads to the major blaze.Mike D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/04034128762993882657noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8890300254470726941.post-88453479748466633702012-07-23T14:13:06.570-04:002012-07-23T14:13:06.570-04:00I have to agree with Rob (how rare!). If I had to...I have to agree with Rob (how rare!). If I had to choose the best out of the series, by a long shot, The Dark Knight is the better told story. The first half of TDKR, it's all over the place. You don't really know who's doing what for whom and why....until the end I guess but by that point, my mind's already pissed off & I lack the desire to give a shit.

Bane's voice was weird, but it's something I got used to as the film went on. I appreciated the way Hardy played him. Another character I enjoyed was JGL, but listen, I came to see a movie about Batman, who really only showed up for about 30 minutes of his own 2 hour and 45 minute film. Hathaway's Catwoman was a decent attempt, but she felt so out of place, it almost didn't matter if she was there or not. All the other little surprises you mentioned were definitely little tiny sparks of greatness, but not enough to make it shine as a whole.

The last half, I guess, was a fitting way to end this trilogy but...if I placed all of Nolan's films across the board and rated them, this might be my least favorite.KMGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04994574757977610299noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8890300254470726941.post-52185298541837814792012-07-23T14:03:56.008-04:002012-07-23T14:03:56.008-04:00Hey Mike.
I for the most part agree with you. It...Hey Mike.

I for the most part agree with you. It's rare when a superhero movie literally keeps me on the edge of my seat. Some parts were actually making me uncomfortable. All the performances were truly stellar.

Unfortunately I have a couple of gripes. First being (you might have called it) Banes voice. Though I don't have the same issue that everyone seems to have which is not understanding him. I understood him fine. I didn't even mind the accent. It's the sound mixing that was terrible. His voice was much louder than everyone else in every scene. Did he have a megaphone in that mask? Sadly that took me out of it a little.

My other gripe is in Banes plan. He put together this genius plan to take over Gotham just to inevitably destroy in. He trapped all of the cities cops in the sewers for a period of months. Why even keep them alive? He could have let them starve to death or could have even dropped bombs down there. It would certainly have reduced the chances of them escaping and eventually uprising... which they did. If Bane is so cold blooded and brutal, why bother? I read someone else complaining about this one thing on another site and now I can't get it out of my head. Damn them.

Aside from those two things, I really love this movie. They don't even bother me all that much because the whole thing is just so damn intense. I never see movies in the theater more than once. This might be the one exception. Besides, I'm sure I may have missed a thing or two. There's just so much going on. It's a lot to take in.

Can't wait for the boxed set.anthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14477746918606846835noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8890300254470726941.post-11076279155769994772012-07-23T14:02:00.464-04:002012-07-23T14:02:00.464-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.anthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14477746918606846835noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8890300254470726941.post-71657740249807637452012-07-23T13:40:15.771-04:002012-07-23T13:40:15.771-04:00I'm glad you liked it, glad a lot of people di...I'm glad you liked it, glad a lot of people did, but I found the whole thing dull and boring. I'm a pretty easy mark too. I like a lot of stuff other people hate. I also enjoyed both previous Batman movies and am huge Nolan fanboy.
